One of Kathryn’s amazing talents is successfully working with kids who are challenged with learning disabilities and autistic disorders such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and autistic disorder such as Asperger Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD).
With Kathryn’s guidance and devotion to art, these children find their voices. Kristen states, “Our son Connor was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. Communicating, socializing and using his imagination can be very challenging. Art classes with Kathryn have allowed him to grow in self-expression, self-awareness and build his self-esteem. Connor now has a beautiful way of communicating his thoughts and feelings. He went from a boy who would not pick up a paint brush to calling himself an artist!”

I was part of the childrens’ art show at Pelican Art in 2009 and saw how the shy children really bloomed when they saw their own artwork on the wall of the gallery. It was heartwarming.
